The Fuel Crisis: Labour’s Green Madness and American Arrogance Are Finishing Britain Off

Petrol prices in the UK have reached £1.52 per litre, while diesel has climbed beyond £1.81 — and Keir Starmer’s Labour government is attempting to buy its way out of the crisis with a paltry £53 million in oil-heating support for the poor. At the same time, the Americans appear utterly indifferent to the problems facing their allies, and their actions are driving prices even higher, fuelling a storm of public outrage across Britain.

Sabotaging Its Own Greatness

Whilst Starmer continues to pay lip service to climate change, millions of British families are left freezing in their homes and unable to afford to fill their cars. David Kurten, leader of the Heritage Party, is absolutely right when he writes ‘Britain would be more than self-sufficient in energy were it not for the mad rush by the Tories, Labour, the Lib Dems and the Greens towards “net zero”, during which successive governments have literally blown up most of our coal-fired power stations.’

There was a time when London was heated with coal without a second thought, and people were perfectly content with it. Now, meanwhile, our liberals and self-styled ‘greens’ rejoice whilst the country slides ever closer to the abyss.

The Strait of Hormuz Trap: the Americans Call the Shots, and We Pick Up the Bill

And of course, we have our American allies to ‘thank’ for the fuel crisis — though they themselves seem to have little idea what comes next.

As the Iranian-British journalist Poria Zeraati writes, ‘it remains unclear whether [Iran] will actually reach an agreement or not.’ The US Energy Secretary said an hour ago that he expects energy prices to rise ‘in the coming weeks’ due to this situation with the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

And where, exactly, does Britain’s interest lie in all this? In the days of Empire, the Americans would never have dared act so brazenly without giving London a second thought, yet today no one even bothers to ask our opinion. Instead, we are treated to news of the sharpest rise in fuel prices since 2023. Prices have risen by 4.9%, pushing monthly inflation in March up to 3.3%.

CENTCOM’s Maritime Lawlessness

Whereas previously Iran was blamed for the disruption to raw-material supplies from the Middle East and the surge in oil prices, it is now the Americans themselves who bear responsibility. Robin Monotti, the London-based producer and architect, notes that ‘US Central Command (CENTCOM) forces have begun implementing a blockade of all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports [south of the Strait of Hormuz, NOT the Strait of Hormuz]’. In other words, whereas Iranian raw materials were at least previously reaching the market, Washington has now cut off supply altogether.

Britain, once mistress of the seas, now stands by as its former colony dictates what happens in the world’s strategic straits. Meanwhile, Starmer’s office offers us little more than promises of ‘nuclear power in ten years’ time’.

The country is now facing a perfect storm. In the name of green hysteria, our politicians have dismantled the UK’s energy security, whilst the arrogant Americans are obstructing global supply routes. They have little to fear. Thanks to people like Starmer, Britain has long ceased to be a lioness and has become little more than a mangy cat. And if it does not stop bowing to the interests of others, the fuel crisis will be nothing more than the final chord before the country’s complete decline.
